Rethink Storytelling on LinkedIn (And All Platforms!)

the secret to engaging writing is micro-stories

[reading time: 3-5 minutes]

1 TIP

hey there, beautiful humans,

let's dive into something that’s buzzing everywhere:

  • you need to write online.

  • you need to share your story.

  • you need to build a PERSONAL brand.

but here's the big question:

how the hell are you supposed to do that when you

DON’T KNOW YOUR STORY?

or, when you don’t know

WHAT’S AUTHENTICALLY YOU?

especially after spending decades in the corporate world.

the first time I tried to write a “personal” post online, it felt paralyzing.

my career path is “a-typical” to say the least:

  • 11 jobs.

  • 8 industries.

  • over 15 years.

how the hell am I supposed to squeeze that into one clear message for a personal brand?

but then, i realized:

each post is a micro-story.

not a memoir, not an autobiography.

posts aren’t meant to “do it all”. they’re meant to:

  • share value.

  • spark curiosity.

  • build trust and connection.

they’re teasers, friends.

little breadcrumbs that lead people to your profile, wanting more.

so, stop trying to write that one EPIC story in one EPIC post.

start simple. write one post about:

  • a topic you’re excited about.

  • something not enough people are talking about.

  • a perspective you see shared, but don’t agree with.

and just when you think it’s ready to publish, pause and ask yourself:

  • why do I care about this?

  • what made me think about this?

was it a “one-time” thing? a specific experience? something you know that others might not?

whatever your answer, that’s the story!

a tiny human connection bridging the gap between you (the person posting) and them (the person reading).

it's not about laying it all out there.

it's about one post, one story, one truth at a time.

simple, manageable, and real.

so, as you move through this week, take this 1 tip with you…start sharing your story online using micro-stories

  • share your insights, however small they may seem.

  • find your unique angle in everyday experiences.

  • make it relatable and true to you.

now, doesn’t that feel more doable?
